J. Cole is the cover star of the exclusive NBA 2K23 Dreamer Edition

The Grammy-winning musician will also work as the game’s soundtrack’s executive producer.
J. Cole has been unveiled as the new cover athlete for NBA 2K23 by 2K Games.

The chief executive of Dreamville has been chosen to appear on the cover of the game’s limited DREAMER Edition, which will be released in November 2022. Michael Jordan, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, and Devin Booker are among this year’s coveted cover athletes, and the multi-platinum recording artist and producer will join them.

Cole has also been chosen by 2K Games to serve as the soundtrack’s executive producer this year. As he builds up to the release of his upcoming album, the Off-Season emcee plans to add his own unique touch to the tracklist. Additionally, one of the upcoming NBA 2K23 Seasons will be curated by Dreamville and Interscope Records; specifics will be revealed later.

NBA 2K continues to be the gold standard for showcasing all things basketball culture, according to J. Cole. “NBA 2K has long been a place to discover new musical talent through their game,” he added. “It’s been an incredible journey to not only be featured on this year’s game’s cover but also to contribute to the MyCAREER soundtrack and storyline and introduce the DREAMER brand to NBA 2K. Additionally, there will be more, so keep an eye out for Bas and Elite in this year’s MyCAREER story as well as all Dreamville and DREAMER brand drops during Seasons.

According to Alfie Brody, vice president of global marketing strategy at NBA 2K, “the sheer scale, depth, and talent featured in this year’s MyCAREER creates an unparalleled experience within NBA 2K23.” The most talented person on that list is our first cover star, who genuinely lives at the nexus of music and basketball. NBA 2K23 has become a pillar of culture, which is demonstrated by bringing a visionary like J. Cole and DREAMER into the creative process for both the game and the soundtrack.

The upcoming soundtrack for NBA 2K23 is anticipated to be among the most varied in the game’s history. The soundtrack for the former Rwandan BBC athlete will be a “global, diverse masterpiece,” with contributions from musicians all over the world.

A total of 36 songs by 36 artists will make up the soundtrack when it debuts, including “Wants and Needs (feat. Lil Baby)” by Drake, “Megan’s Piano” by Megan Thee Stallion, “Surround Sound (feat. 21 Savage & Baby Tate)” by JID, “The Matrix” by Ski Mask the Slump God, and more. Every Friday, three new songs will be released, adding to the already rich and varied soundtrack. The game’s well-liked Seasons will benefit from a variety of artists, record label alliances, and integrations thanks to J. Cole’s curation.

With their brand-new MyCAREER experience on Next Gen, NBA 2K23 also honours the fusion of basketball and music culture. This experience features the longest and most intricate storyline in the franchise’s history. In November, GameStop will be the only location where players can access the DREAMER Edition.
