Barbie Ferreira is leaving “Euphoria.”
Prior to the third season of the HBO drama, Ferreira, who plays Kat on the show, announced the news on her Instagram Story on Wednesday.
Ferreira wrote, “I’m having to say a very teary goodbye after having the opportunity to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat for the past four years.
She went on, “I sincerely hope that many of you, like me, were able to identify with her and found joy in witnessing her development into the person she is today. I hoped you guys could sense the love and care I gave her. Catherine Hernandez, I adore you.”
The sex-positive character Kat explores online sex work and in Season 1 of the show and she began a relationship with Ethan (played by Austin Abrams).
Following a hit Season 2, “Euphoria” was renewed for a third season. It is centered around Zendaya’s character Rue, a teen living in suburban California who struggles with drugs and the loss of her father.
